What is Title I / LCAP? Qué es Título 1 / LCAP? Title 1(Federal) and LCAP (State) are programs that provide extra funding to eligible schools to improve the academic achievement of atrisk students. Título 1 (Federal) y LCAP (Estatal) son programas que proveen fondos adicionales para mejorar el logro académico de alumnos en riesgo a las escuelas que son elegibles.
How Are Schools Designated as Title 1? Cómo se le asigna la clasificación de Título 1 a las escuelas? Schools are eligible to be Title 1 if 35% or more of students in the school qualify for Free/Reduced lunch (based on lunch applications). Castle Park Middle is a Title 1 Schoolwide Program Schools can choose to be a schoolwide Title 1 school if their free/reduced lunch percent is over 40%. Las escuelas tienen la opción de elegir ser escuela de Título 1 a nivel general si más del 40% de los alumnos reciben comidas gratuitas o a precio reducido. This means that the school can use the funding to improve the entire school program, but its main focus is to provide supplemental services for students that are at-risk of failing via materials, interventions, and support classes. Title 1 / LCAP Oversight Vigilancia del Título 1 / LCAP The School Site Council (SSC) reviews and approves the School s Single Plan for Student Achievement (SPSA). Aligned with our 4 LCAP goals, the SPSA outlines how school will address the academic needs of their students and how the categorical budgets will be spent to support those needs. LCAP Goals: Goal 1: Ensure excellence in teaching and learning so each student is prepared to succeed in college and career. Goal 2: Create a safe and healthy learning environment for each student by building a culture of equity and a positive climate that promotes excellence throughout the district. Goal 3: Foster and honor parent/guardian and community engagement to support excellence in each student s success. THIS IS YOU!!! Goal 4: Develop coherent and transparent systems for operational excellence to support each student s success. Parents should have a method to provide input to the SSC regarding Title 1 including the parent involvement activities, that the school provides.
School Site Council Concilio Escolar SSC This group of (6) staff members, (2) parents, and (3) students oversees the Title 1 budget and approves the site action plan. The SSC meets after school once a month. Este grupo compuesto de (6) miembros del personal docente, (2) padres, y (3) alumnos supervisan los presupuestos del programa Título 1 y aprueban el Plan de Rendimiento Estudiantil. El Concilio Escolar SSC se reúne después de escuela una vez al mes.
