Slide 22 Ser vs Estar Both ser and estar mean to be. They mean the same thing but are used differently. A generalization: Ser is used for permanent characteristics. Slide 25 El verbo gustar To express likes and dislike we use verbs like gustar. These verbs are not used like other ar verbs. Ej: We NEVER say Yo gusto el chocolate. los verbos gustar disgustar encantar interesar aburrir faltar molestar Slide 26 me te le nos les El verbo gustar + gusta = for singular nouns or verbs or gustan = for plural nouns The following are used for added clarification: a mí a tí a nosotros a él /ella A mí me gusta el brócoli. By using DOPs we are saying it/them rather than saying the object over and over. These can also replace people, not just things. Por ejemplo: Yesterday I went to the mall to buy some shoes. I found the shoes that I liked and tried the shoes on. I wanted to buy the shoes so I took the shoes up to the clerk and paid for the shoes. All of my friends like my shoes and want to buy some shoes just like the shoes I bought. This sounds silly so we use the pronouns to replace the shoes with them.
