Our Mass Schedule Mon, Weds, Fri: 8am Daily Mass Tues, Thurs: 8am Liturgy of the Word (Communion Service) Tues: 2-7pm Eucharistic Adoration Tues: 7pm Spanish Mass Thurs: 8:30am Bible Study Sat: 4pm (English) & 6pm (Spanish) Sunday: 7:30am (Spanish), 10am Mass (English) Twenty-Third Sunday in Ordinary Time - September 6, 2015 God calls Saint Clement Parish to be a welcoming, worshipping community of faith, hope, and love. A Reflection by Deacon Paul: Espiritualmente discapacitados Spiritually Handicapped In our readings this week we hear of two situations of physical healing. The Prophet Isaiah tells us a time will come when the world will be transformed. The blind will see, the deaf will hear, the lame will leap like stags and streams will burst forth in the desert. In the Gospel we see this prophesy coming to reality when Jesus cures a man of his deafness and his speech impediment. These are all physical healings. But the Prophet and Jesus call us to see our spiritual handicaps. We are often blind to the beauty God has created in nature and in human creativity, that we are deaf to the teachings of the prophets and of Jesus. Finally, we waste our physical strength and do not use it to help those in need. St. James reminds us that we should be blind to the differences of people who come into our gatherings. He teaches a message of equality. When we put people at a lower place we do not hear their suffering or their needs and are blind to the differences caused by economic, educational or national backgrounds. We are called to recognize our spiritual handicaps and work to be Christ like in our interaction with others. In that way we will build the Kingdom of God on earth. Importance of Religious Education To fulfill the true meaning of baptism, children must be formed in the faith in which they have been baptized. Christian formation seeks to lead them gradually to learn God s plan in Christ, so that they may accept for themselves the faith in which they have been baptized. At their baptism parents accepted the responsibility of training their children in the faith. Maggie Miller will be available to accept registrations for classes after All Masses this Weekend. Religious Education classes begin on September 13th at 8:30am. Please see the bulletin insert for more information.
