Writing proficiency attained at the intermediate level is further developed, while cultural understanding of the Spanish-speaking world is broadened. Conducted entirely in Spanish. Three lecture hours per week. Prerequisite: SPN 202 or the equivalent. Teléfonos móviles En total, nos reuniremos por dos horas y media cada semana. Las intenciones del curso son: Tender un puente entre los cursos básicos de lenguaje y los de niveles más altos. Cubrir y practicar modos diferentes de escritura: descriptivo, narrado, y argumentativo. Emplear el castellano en una manera significativa para explorar los aspectos de la cultura representados en las s. Otoño 2010 SPN354 Dr. Kenneth Reeds 1

2 Objetivos del curso Los estudiantes de este curso serán capaces de: 1. Ver, estudiar, analizar, y criticar s diversas del mundo hispanohablante. 2. Discutir y criticar asuntos artísticos, políticos, históricos, y culturales representados en las s. 3. Producir cuatro trabajos escritos que cumplen con las directrices de ACTFL Proficiency (descriptivo) y Advanced (narrativo y argumentativo). 4. Evaluar errores gramaticales y estilísticos con un proceso rigoroso de editar. 5. Reescribir cada trabajo corrigiendo errores y revisando debilidades. 6. Repasar y mejorar puntos gramaticales claves utilizando el libro de texto. Componentes del curso El curso está dividido en cuatro secciones; cada uno dedicada a una y un trabajo escrito. Los trabajos son cada vez más largos y difíciles. Todas las secciones tienen los mismos componentes: Discusión de la Actividades gramaticales en el libro de texto. Lista de oraciones. Borrador. Trabajo final. Evaluación Actividades gramaticales: cada estudiante hará las actividades en las páginas indicadas en la programación. Repasaremos algunas de las actividades en clase. (25% de la nota final / objetivo #6) Trabajos escritos (oraciones, borrador, final): todos deben ser escritos a doble espacio usando la tipografía Times New Roman 12 y dejando una pulgada para todos los márgenes. (50% de la nota final / objetivos #1, 3, 4, 5) Asistencia: habrá penalización a partir de la segunda falta (10 % de la nota final / objetivos #1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6) Participación (15% de la nota final / objetivos #2 y 4) Fecha Clase Tarea Septiembre 2 Introducción del curso (40min.) STAMP The STAMP online proficiency test is required of all graduating Spanish or French minors, and of all students taking FRE 202, ITL 202 or SPN 202 this year (fall and spring). If you are a Spanish major who has not yet taken the test, you need to take it as well. This test will not affect students' grades; the goal of the testing is to provide the Department with assessment data about students' proficiency levels in order to improve our programs. Students who are required to take the test will receive a code number and will use that number to log in and take the test online in the Language Lab during the four weeks before the end of classes of each semester (202 classes, all SPN majors, graduating FRE/SPN/ITL minors).
