Suggested additional resources: Cuéntame!, pages Procedures/Steps: 1. Use TPR to introduce explota, aplasta, le da, Ojo! 2. Review pásame, ve, agarra, enojado, come. 3. Listen to the podcast. This story asks students to answer questions after each statement. Then the whole story is told at the end. 4. Retell the story, or ask questions based on the story. 5. Have students read the story together or in groups. Students may substitute other vocabulary words as they retell the story. 6. Have students complete the Student Pages. 7. Reflections/Assessment: Response to questions as the story is told. Teacher observations. Complete student pages. 4 : Technology Enhanced Elementary Spanish Program TEACHER PAGE Before the podcast: Introduce the new vocabulary to students. Some words may be review from previous lessons. Have students act out the target vocabulary words whenever possible. Help them understand the time(s) used in the stories by using a clock and setting the time according to the narrative of the stories. During the podcast: Be sure to check for student understanding of the story. Pause as needed and ask student (s) to explain what is happening. Clarify any misunderstandings using the script and translation provided for each story following the Teacher Pages. After the podcast: Use the story script provided on the first page of the Student Pages to reread the story, or have students act out the story. Suggestions: Use the Spanish vocabulary for days of the week, and months of the year, regularly in class. Add the Spanish words to your class calendar. (Note: days of the week and months of the year are not capitalized in sentences in Spanish.) Lesson 55 Story 2 Page 4

El mono explota porque come demasiadas bananas. Qué horror! TRANSLATION Many Bananas There is a family that is in a restaurant. The son of the family says to his mother, Pass me a banana, please. The mother gives him the banana. Suddenly a monkey that is in the restaurant also sees the boy with the banana. The monkey runs toward the boy. The mother shouts Watch out! The monkey grabs the boy s banana. The boy is very angry and smashes the banana in the mouth of the monkey.
