The optional period is not optional for this class, so you will have ample time to finish your exam. We will begin promptly, so please be ready to begin on time. There are 4 sections to this Exam. Each will consist of 50 pts. and will be weighted equally. 25% Speaking presentation 25% Writing Assessment 25% Listening Assessment 25% Reading Assessment Speaking Presentation: 50 pts. This assignment will be presented in class on Thur., Dec. 11 Speaking in context: February is Healthy Heart Month. You have volunteered to work with a fifth grade class at the elementary school you attended, and help the students understand why they need to maintain healthy habits. You will prepare a visual and a 60 second presentation. See the back of this sheet for details. Listening Assessment: 50 pts. Listening in context: This section will consist of 40 completion questions about listening selections. Listening for interaction: This section will consist of 10 points for completing a grid about your classmates speaking presentations during class on Thursday, Dec. 11. Reading Assessment: 50 pts. This category will consist of 50 Multiple choice questions. Vocabulary in context: 35 questions These questions will require that you select the appropriate vocabulary word to fit the context of the sentence. Reading in context: 15 questions You will read a short reading selection, and answer 15 questions about what you have read. Writing Assessment: 50 pts. Grammar in context: (40 points) This category will consist of 36 questions about: Formal and informal commands related to health/preterite y imperfect/ser y estar /estar+past participle Writing in context: You will write a 10 point essay that addresses a prompt. You will have choices.

2 Unit 3 Speaking Presentation: 50 pts. This assignment will be presented in class on Thur., Dec. 11 This is your Semester 1 Exam Speaking Assessment, and will be weighted as 25% of the exam. February is Healthy Heart Month. You have volunteered to work with a fifth grade class at the elementary school you attended, and help the students understand why they need to maintain healthy habits. Speaking Presentation Assessment: Visual: 20 pts Use of 10 informal command forms with advice: (mix of affirmative/negative) with appropriate illustrations and design Script: 20 pts Accuracy and content of script: Use of 6 formal commands (affirmative/negative) and vocabulary about healthy habits Delivery: 10 pts. Fluency and delivery of content during presentation Step 1: Prepare a visual to teach the class what they should and what they should not do in order to be healthy. Use 10 affirmative and negative informal commands in Spanish since you will give this poster to each child. Include illustrations in your visual. Step 2: Prepare a 60 second presentation about healthy habits. Include at least six Formal Uds. affirmative and negative commands, since you are speaking to an entire fifth grade class. You do not have to use commands only; you will need to use other health-related vocabulary as part of your explanation. Step 3: Vocabulary for this prompt may come from any of the chapters we have studied this year, so you could include a variety of suggestions including: outdoor activities, extracurricular activities, visual and performing arts, or nutrition and exercise. Step 4: Practice your script so you are comfortable when you present in class. You will not read from your written script. You may have a notecard with bullet points that you will turn in at the end of your presentation. Step 5: Present your work to your classmates. Your instructor will videotape this presentation. Step 6: Listen as your classmates present, and complete the grid provided by your instructor. This will become part of your listening assessment grade on your exam.
