Do I trust him with the whole of my life? is God capable of unending kindness and infinite mercy toward me and those whom I love? Moses doubted as well. He doubted that God would be able to bring to conversion the wondering Israelites in the desert, when he exclaimed: "What shall I do with this people?" He loses confidence in God's plan. He is the one who leads our history; salvation is both God's doing and initiative. All we have to do is to cooperate with Him. God reminds Moses that He is always with him - leading him to the promise of eternal life already fulfilled in Christ. However, after all the mighty deeds God has accomplished in Egypt, Moses still doubts. This is why the Most Highly makes present that it was not him who turned the river Nile into blood, but it was God's power. He orders him to struck the rock using "the stuff with which you struck the river." The hand of God is victorious over sin and death by the Blood of the Lamb. How many times a day we "struck" Jesus our Rock,? In fact, prophet Isaiah says: "he was stricken for our inequities." We, like Moses, come in the presence of the Lord with our histories, problems, sufferings and sins. We grumble against the Lord, we sin against Him and... what does the Lord do? In his mercy provides an everlasting font of salvation: Baptism. The grace St. Paul is mentioning, the one in "which we stand, is the one flowing from the pierced side of Jesus: "that while we were still sinners he died for us." Therefore, let us trust God with the journey he has given us - this life. Let us not follow our "idols," our false husbands," who cannot give us eternal life. Let us renounce our sins and let us fervently pray that we may follow Christ, because "he is truly the Savior of the world."

4 Page 4 Third Sunday of Lent March 19, 2017 TERCER DOMINGO DE CUARESMA La mujer samaritana, va a sacar agua del viejo pozo de Jacob. Y allá estaba El, Jesús, «cansado del camino, sentado junto al manantial». Allá fue el encuentro, en un ardoroso mediodía. Y yo me pregunto: «Quién buscaba a quién? O quién encontró a quién?» Porque, sabedlo: ella acudía, jadeante y afanosa, cada día al pozo para saciar su sed y la de los suyos. Pero, claro, «el que bebía de aquel pozo volvía a tener sed». Ella igualmente acudía a «otras fuentes incitantes y apetitosas», tratando de apaciguar esa otra sed de felicidad que ella, como todos los mortales, llevaba en su corazón. Se lo apuntó Jesús: «Cinco maridos has tenido y el que ahora tienes...». Todos los hombres vamos buscando la felicidad. Detrás de ella caminamos diariamente. Corren el niño y el mayor, el rico y el pobre, el poderoso y el mendigo. Cada uno la sueña de una manera, bajo una figura distinta. Pero, cada mediodía o cada medianoche, todos vamos teniendo la repetida sensación de que «el que bebe de esas aguas, vuelve a tener sed». Vano intento! Cuando, consciente o inconscientemente, buscamos la felicidad, es a Dios a quien buscamos. Lo confesó bellamente San Agustín, hastiado al fin de tanta aventura tras el placer, la sabiduría y la belleza: «Nos hiciste, Señor, para Ti, y nuestro corazón está inquieto hasta que descanse en Ti».
