Gobernando mi mundo Unidad 6 The Imperfect Subjunctive H.O. #17 ALMOST everything that you have learned about the Subjunctive is still true for the Imperfect Subjunctive: all of the subjunctive triggers are the same and even the formula (1 st subject + 1 st verb + que + 2 nd subject + 2 nd verb) is still the same. What is different is the context of time and the irregulars. Use the Imperfect Subjunctive when the context of the sentence is in the past! Remember that the imperfect tense is considered a past tense. Present Subjunctive Compare the following Imperfect Subjunctive Los ciudadanos esperan que el ejercito luche contra las injusticias. El gobernador sugirió que nosotros promoviéramos el bienestar de la gente. I. To form the Imperfect Subjunctive, begin with the «ellos/ellas/ustedes» form of the preterite tense! Drop the ron and add the following endings: ra, ras, ra, ramos, ran. These endings are the same for all three types of infinitives: ar,er, & ir and for the irregular verbs as well.
