At Berkeley High School, our mission is to educate and inspire all students in a safe, respectful and supportive environment. Drawing from diverse racial, ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds, our student population embraces a broad spectrum of people and ideas. Our programs both challenge and support students to reach high levels of academic achievement while preparing each graduate to be successful in college, work, and life. Each school is given a score from 200 to 1000 based on a formula which includes student performance on standardized tests. Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) is a part of the Federal No Child Left Behind Act. It incorporates the API, student participation rates in standardized testing, graduation rates, and annual proficiency targets. The targets require a specific percentage of students to score Advanced or Proficient on state tests. Failure to meet the target results in designation as a Program Improvement (PI) school API Score Growth Attained From Prior Year +19

3 Met AYP No No Program Improvement No No The California High School Exit Exam (CAHSEE) is the state mandated test administered to students beginning in grade 10 in the Spring of each year and required for graduation from all public high schools in California. All students are tested in the areas of Math and English Language Arts, including an essay component. There are four achievement categories for the CAHSEE: Advanced, Proficient, Pass, and No Pass CAHSEE Group Performance El Índice de Desempeño Académico (API) es el sistema de responsabilidad de California.
