7 mensaje del Presidente l chairman s message E l 2010 fue un excelente año para el mercado bursátil, caracterizado por su gran dinamismo, altos volúmenes transados y el incremento sostenido en los precios de los activos. Todos estos factores no hacen más que confirmar la senda de optimismo y buenas perspectivas sobre el desarrollo del mercado de capitales en Chile, el crecimiento económico del país y el desempeño de sus empresas. Así, el difícil comienzo del año, marcado por un terremoto que azotó la zona centro sur de nuestro país, no logró bajar el rendimiento de la economía nacional, terminando el año 2010 con un aumento en el producto interno bruto del 5,2%. Este crecimiento fue impulsado principalmente por el fuerte aumento de la demanda interna y una política fiscal expansiva para apoyar el proceso de reconstrucción post terremoto. La economía local se vio favorecida por un aumento en el comercio exterior, el cual creció un 34,4%. Tanto las exportaciones como importaciones registraron aumentos importantes, de 31,5% y 38,3% respectivamente. Siguiendo esta línea, nuestro mayor producto de exportación, el cobre, mostró un importante alza en su precio y registró valores máximos históricos, pasando de 3,35 dólares la libra a comienzos de año a 4,15 dólares la libra al final del período. Por su parte, el petróleo, principal producto de importación de Chile, promedió un precio de 81,03 dólares el barril a lo largo de año, con un aumento del 32,8% respecto a los valores del año anterior. Por su parte, la moneda local mantuvo la tendencia de revaluación observada durante los últimos años. Así, el 2010 la cotización del dólar pasó de un valor de 507 pesos a principios de año a 468 pesos al término del año, alcanzando mínimos que no se registraban desde el año Estos precios incrementaron las expectativas de una posible intervención del Banco Central, la cual se materializaría a principios del año T he year 2010 was an excellent year for the stock market, mainly because of its great dynamism, high traded volumes and due to the increase of asset s prices. 8 mensaje del Presidente l chairman s message 6 Dentro de los índices de nuestra economía, el IPC acumuló en el año 2010 una variación anual de 2,97%, la que se explica fundamentalmente por el aumento del precio del crudo. Si bien, este aumento del IPC se encuentra dentro del rango meta definido por el Banco Central, se registró un aumento en la tasa de política monetaria, notándose un cambio de estrategia en esta materia con el objeto de prevenir los impactos que pudieran tener en la inflación el crecimiento de la demanda interna, el aumento en el precio del petróleo y el incremento en la cotización de los alimentos. En relación al mercado accionario, el 2010 resultó ser un año de gran actividad, con incrementos importantes tanto en el número de negocios como en los montos transados, con crecimiento a su vez en los precios de gran parte de las acciones listadas en nuestro mercado. En efecto, el monto transado promedio diario fue de 219 millones de dólares y el número promedio diario de negocios alcanzó las unidades, lo que representa aumentos en relación al 2009 de 45,4% y 79,7%, respectivamente. Por su parte, los índices más representativos del mercado chileno, el IGPA e IPSA, anotaron un aumento de 38,17% y 37,58%, respectivamente, siendo esta última rentabilidad el tercer mejor rendimiento de los últimos diez años. Asimismo, durante el año el IPSA alcanzó su máximo histórico, superando por primera vez desde su creación los puntos. El crecimiento de los precios se hizo extensivo a todos los sectores, destacando el de Constructoras e Inmobiliarias con un 115,28%, el Retail con 83,23%, la Banca con 70,75%, el Industrial con 60,14% y el Consumo con un 40,23%. Asimismo, el valor de mercado de las sociedades inscritas en Bolsa, medido a través de la capitalización bursátil, cerró el año en una cifra superior a los 341 mil millones de dólares, equivalente a un 260% del PIB nacional. Junto a lo anterior una nueva compañía realizó su proceso de apertura, Pesquera Camanchaca, reuniendo más de 232 millones de dólares para el desarrollo de sus nuevos proyectos. Por su parte, los mercados de deuda de corto y largo plazo también presentaron una significativa actividad. Así, el mercado de instrumentos de intermediación financiera (IIF) registró un crecimiento del 23,8%, con montos transados de millones de dólares, mientras que los volúmenes transados en instrumentos de renta fija (IRF) disminuyeron un 4,62%, con montos operados de millones de dólares. 10 mensaje del Presidente l chairman s message 8 Así, el año 2010 se destacó por innovaciones y avances importantes en los ámbitos de la negociación de instrumentos de renta variable y de la compensación y liquidación de valores. En este contexto, la nueva plataforma transaccional denominada Telepregón HT permitió incorporar un sistema de negociación de última generación, capaz de procesar más de órdenes por segundo a velocidades inferiores a un milisegundo, conectarse con redes internacionales de ruteo de órdenes e integrar las más avanzadas herramientas de ingreso automático de órdenes. Estamos seguros que con esta infraestructura de negociación contribuiremos a aumentar la liquidez del mercado local y atraer mayores oportunidades de negocios para los corredores de la Bolsa de Comercio. Asimismo, estas nuevas tecnologías pretenden cautivar a un importante número de inversionistas internacionales, los que incrementarán la base para desarrollar procesos de integración con distintas bolsas de Latinoamérica. En este ámbito, durante el año 2010 se avanzó en la integración de los mercados accionarios de Chile, Colombia y Perú. Este proyecto, denominado Mercado Integrado Latinoamericano MILA, está siendo desarrollado por la Bolsa de Comercio de Santiago en conjunto con la Bolsa de Valores de Lima, la Bolsa de Valores de Colombia y los depósitos de los 3 países, y debiera constituirse en un referente para el mercado de capitales internacional. Junto a lo anterior, a fines del año 2010 hemos ratificado nuestro interés de avanzar decididamente en todo lo que significa integración de mercados, firmando un convenio con BM&F-Bovespa, lo que nos dará la oportunidad de incorporar nuevos productos bursátiles en asociación con la principal bolsa de Latinoamérica. Adicionalmente, durante el año 2010 trabajamos en la creación de la CCLV Contraparte Central S.A., empresa que se encuentra constituida desde septiembre de The year 2010 was outlined for innovations and important advances in the trading facilities and in the settlement and clearing of securities.
