1 MITZI BOND ELEMENTARY NEWSLETTER 250 Lindbergh St. El Paso, TX (915) October 2015 Dear Bond Families, October already!!!! It was so nice to see so many families attend Open House. We have been in school for about 27 days, teachers, students and staff are working very hard to make this a successful year. We recognize that in order to be successful in school, our children need support from both home and school. We know a strong partnership with you will make a great difference in your child s education. As partners, we share the responsibility for our children s success and want you to know that we will do our very best to carry out our responsibilities. We ask that you guide and support your child s learning by ensuring that he/she: 1) Attends school daily and arrives on time, ready for the day s learning experience 2) Completes all homework assignments given by teachers 3) Reads daily to develop a love for reading and to improve literacy skills 4) Shares school experiences with you so that you are aware of his/her school life 5) Informs you if he/she needs additional support in any area or subject 6) Knows that you expect him/her to succeed in school and go on to college Just a few reminders: 1) Please do not park in the fires lanes when picking up your children. If you must get down, please park in the parent parking lot. If your child isn t seen when you drive up to the front of the line just go around. The chances are great that when you drive by the next time they will be waiting for you. Following these simple procedures will keep the line moving and will keep our students safe! 2) Our office staff are very helpful and courteous but, to keep the office running smoothly please: A. Let your child know any important information (who will pick them up, lunch information ) before you drop them off. B. If you need for the office staff to relay a message to your child please call early enough so that they are able to call the teacher. C. When coming to eat with your child please sign in and get a visitors pass. D. Be sure to pick up your child on time. E. Tutoring will be on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 3:20-3:55.Teachers will notify you of the day and time. Hemos estado en la escuela durante aproximadamente 27 días, los maestros, los estudiantes y el personal están trabajando muy duro para hacer de este un año exitoso. Reconocemos que para tener éxito en la escuela, nuestros hijos necesitan el apoyo en el hogar y la escuela. Sabemos que una fuerte asociación con usted hará una gran diferencia en la educación de su hijo/hija. Como socios, compartimos la responsabilidad por el éxito de nuestros hijos y queremos que sepan que haremos nuestro mejor esfuerzo para llevar a cabo nuestras responsabilidades. Le pedimos que guíe y respalde el aprendizaje de su hijo al asegurar que él / ella: 1) Asista a la escuela todos los días y llegue a tiempo, listo para la experiencia de aprendizaje del día 2) Complete todas las tareas dadas por los profesores 3) Lea todos los días para desarrollar un amor por la lectura y mejorar las habilidades de alfabetización 4) Comparta experiencias escolares con usted para que usted este al tanto de la vida escolar de su hijo. 5) Le informa si él / ella necesita apoyo adicional en cualquier área o materia 6) Sabe que usted espera que él / ella tenga éxito en la escuela para poder ir a la universidad Algunos recordatorios: 1) Por favor no se estacione en los carriles de incendios al recoger a sus hijos. Si tiene que bajar, por favor estacionese en el estacionamiento de los padres. Si no ve a su hijo cuando llegue a la parte delantera de la línea, favor de dar la vuelta de nuevo. Las posibilidades de que su hijo lo este esperando la segunda vez son mayores. Siguiendo estos sencillos procedimientos mantendrá la línea en movimiento y mantiene a nuestros estudiantes seguros! 2) Nuestro personal de la oficina es muy servicial y cortés, pero, para mantener la oficina funcionando sin problemas por favor: a. Dígale a su hijo cualquier información importante (quien los recogera, información del almuerzo...) antes de dejarlos en la escuela. b. Si usted necesita que el personal de la oficina le de un mensaje a su hijo, por favor llame con suficiente anticipación para que puedan llamar a la maestra. c. Cuando venga a comer con su hijo por favor firme en el cuaderno de visitantes y obtenga un pase de visitante. d. Asegúrese de recoger a su hijo a tiempo. e. La tutoría será los martes y miércoles de 3: 20-3: 55. Los maestros le informarán del día y la hora. 3 MITZI BOND ELEMENTARY NEWSLETTER PAGE 3 Dear Parents, We would like to welcome you and your children back to school. The students in kindergarten are learning the importance of their ID number. The ID number will be with your child as long as they are a part of the El Paso Independent School District from kindergarten through twelfth grade. They need to memorize the number as quickly as possible so they can use the keypad in the cafeteria to get their lunch. This amazing ID number gives your child access to a wonderful resource in our school. It is our library. Fostering the love of reading at an early age is key to your child's success. You may bring your child everyday to the library and check out some books to read with them at home. The library is open from 3:15 pm to 3:45 pm daily. Focus on teaching your child proper care of the book while enjoying quality time reading with them. Los alumnos de Pre-K están aprendiendo la importancia de su número de identificación. El número de identificación sera de su hijo siempre y siendo parte del Distrito Escolar Independiente de El Paso. Ellos usaran este numero desde el kindergarten hasta el décimo grado. Tienen que aprender de memoria el número lo más rápido posible para que puedan utilizar el teclado en la cafetería para conseguir su almuerzo. Este número de identificación es un recurso maravilloso en nuestra escuela. Le da acceso a nuestra biblioteca. Fomentar el amor por la lectura a una edad temprana es clave para el éxito de su hijo. Usted puede traer a su hijo todos los días a la biblioteca y sacar algunos libros para leer con ellos en casa. La biblioteca está abierta 3:15-3:45 todos los días. Art Night Coordinator- Set up silent auction and items to be auctioned, in conjunction with Reflections awards night in November. Art Night Dinner- Take orders for, and arrange dinner for families attending Art Night in November. Math Night- Coordinate volunteers to prepare and sell nachos and drinks during Math Night on Nov 12 th. Partners in Education- Solicit Donations from businesses in the community for school events. Field Day Snack Organizer- Obtain oranges for all children in the school, coordinate volunteers to cut and hand out oranges on Field Day, May 27th. Book Fair Help (assist younger students with filling out book wish lists, supervising class previews, and/or running registers). Please sign up for 2 hour blocks (8-10am, 10am-12pm, 12-2pm, 2-4pm) from Mon, Sep 28 th through 2pm on Fri, Oct 2 nd. If none of these time blocks are convenient, please just stop in to help when you are available! We would love to have you. Oct 1 st - Book Fair help evening of the Literacy Fair 5:30-7:00pm. Oct 2 nd - Book Fair take-down 1-3pm. Oct 6 th - Mitzi Bond banners for families to carry from Sonic to Bond on Walk-to-School Day. We can make them together at the school, or you can make a banner that says Mitzi Bond and/or Walk To School at home, to turn in to the office. Any act of kindness and support for our custodians is welcome. Spirit Night October 22nd 4pm-9pm Peter Piper Pizza Walk to School Day! Please join us on Wednesday, Oct 7 for our annual walk to school day. Meet at Sonic on 5328 Doniphan between 6am-8am. We will form groups and walk together from Sonic. Come have breakfast and don t forget to wear your Bond T-shirts! Spirit Sticks!! New Spirit Sticks are here! For sale every Friday in front of the school for $1.00 each.
