A. INFORMACIÓN Investigación y presentación For the first part of your project, you will research information on your artist and then you will write an essay (two complete paragraphs en español) that talk about the author and the piece of art that you selected. Since you will be describing the artist s life, you will use the present tense this is called the historical present. Qué hacer? 1. Research information about your artist answering the questions on Investigación Mi artista Make sure to utilize at least two online sources and to provide web addresses for both. 2. Write the essay two complete paragraphs en español that include the following information 1 st paragraph should include (at least) the following info IN THE PRESENT TENSE: Artist name Where and when he/she was born (he/she was born: nace en ) Does he/she practice more than one type of art? Is he/she also a painter, an architect, a photographer? Where can you find his/her obras de arte? Any particular museum, city Two important obras de arte (other than the one you picked) (names en español) If your artist is already dead, where and when he/she died? (My artist is dead: Mi artista está muerto ) If your artist is still alive, where does he/she live right now? (My artist is alive: Mi artista está vivo ) 2 nd paragraph should include (at least) the following info: The name of the painting that you picked (en español) A description of your painting using a lot of the Art Vocabulary (Las bellas artes) An explanation that describes why you picked that painting ( I chose = Yo escogí The essay will be written in two steps: 1. a draft that will be graded by your teacher so you must write it as it was the final product; and 2. a final essay where you will make all the corrections and suggestions from your draft.

Requisitos When writing your essay make sure to include the following Write using the present tense! The only other tense will be in the second paragraph when you say I chose = Yo escogí o Make sure to use a variety of verbs and include regular, stem-changing, and irregular verbs. Use at least words from el Vocabulario de Arte Formato (Layout) 1. Bosquejo (draft) (Quiz grade) Remember to write the draft as it was your final product. It is going to be graded! So give your best effort! DO NOT WRITE ANYTHING IN ENGLISH and do not use electronic translators. Your teacher can tell if you do. If you decided to do so, you will get a zero! Your best friend is a dictionary! Your draft must be typed and you need to skip lines. Is preferable that you use a 14 font so your teacher has enough room to make corrections/suggestions. Include the correct heading: Nombre Fecha Proyecto #1 Mi artista hispanohablante ~el nombre de tu artista~ 2. Ensayo final (final draft) (Project grade) Include the correct heading. Include a colorful picture of your artist. Include a colorful (and original) picture of the obra de arte that you picked. You don t have to double-space the information. However, it would be preferable if you have 1 ½ space. Make sure that all the information fits on one sheet (only one side). Decorate (and have fun decorating) the one page with the info. When turning in your final essay, make sure to turn in all your research and drafts papers. B. SOY ARTISTA Mi pintura You will become an artist You will create (reproduce) the obra de arte you picked. You can use crayons, color pencils, markers, paint anything that helps you replicate the obra de arte. No te preocupes your teacher is not looking for the next Picasso; so if you can t draw/paint don t worry. Your teacher is going to be grading you on your effort and presentation. Qué hacer? You will replicate the obra de arte on one sheet of paper (or canvas), 8. by 11 (not any bigger) Tu nombre Make sure to utilize ALL the space. ~El nombre de tu artista~ Include the following heading: El nombre de la obra de arte

C. PRESENTACIONES Una galería de arte en la clase de español 1. Una presentación en formato de galería. We will arrange everyone s projects in the form of an Art Exhibition. As we walk around the room to admire/critique everyone s piece of art, each student will write a question (en español) for each classmate about the painting or the artist. You must write a question for each work of art. Disrespectful or inappropriate questions will be penalized with a zero for this project. 2. Presentación de las pinturas After visiting each one s painting, you will present your work of art. Please memorize eight interesting sentences that you wrote on your essay and present them class. Be ready to present en español and do not read your speech. Please speak as clearly and fluently as possible. 3. Contestar las preguntas de los compañeros de clase After your presentation, you will answer (en español) 3 questions from your friends. I will pick the 3 questions from the bag and read them to you. Please make sure that you study your artist s life and the painting so that you will respond appropriately and impress your friends and your teacher. FECHAS TOPES Deadlines A. Información...
