We hope these signs of progress are enough to deem pledging time, talents, and treasure, to the GIFT Campaign, a worthy offering for those parishioners who have not done so yet. It was not you who chose me, but I who chose you and appointed you to go and bear fruit that will remain, so that whatever you ask the father in my name he may give you. Jn15:16-17 What is a Sacristan? A Sacristan is responsible for preparing the Holy Eucharist for the celebration of the mass. They light the candles, and arrange the books before Mass begins. The Sacristan makes sure that everything is set-up and ready to celebrate Mass. They also ensure at the end of the mass that everything has been cleaned and put back in its place in the Sacristy before leaving the church. Requirements: Commitment to assist at least 1 weekend a month Show up at least 30min. prior to the start of the scheduled Mass Confirmed parishioner, at least 18 years of age Attend a safe environment class Attend a 1 hr. Sacristan Training Class at the What is an Eucharistic Minister Of Holy Communion (EMC)? An Extraordinary Minister Of Holy Communion, or more properly Lay Eucharistic Minister LEM is a person who assists the priest in administering the sacrament of Holy Communion. They may also take the sacrament to those who are ill, or otherwise unable to attend Mass. In our church the Eucharistic Minister Of Holy Communion typically distributes the Blood of Christ. The EMC is also responsible to clean the vessels after mass. The Eucharistic Minister Of Holy Communion (EMC Captain) usually distributes the Body of Christ. The EMC Captain is also responsible for making sure that we have enough people to fill all the positions required to make the Mass run smoothly. The EMC Captain will check in the EMCs, Readers, Ushers and Altar Servers and where needed will find a substitute to fill in. The EMC Captain is also responsible to clean the vessels after mass.
