The first week of October is also Age of Sail for our 5th grade students, parent-teacher conferences and a meeting for 4th & 5th grade parents on October 5th at 6:30 in the MUR regarding Science Olympiad. Zumba for students starts on Thursday October 5th - there is an online sign up for this class. The district sponsors Parent University on October 21st (please see the flyer for more details) and we end the month with Shriek - a- Rama on October 27th and The Dynamic Dinner, the Ed Foundation s fundraiser, on the same day. We do not allow candy at school (even on Halloween) so please limit your halloween give-aways to non food items, and do not send your child in a costume on October 31st. The time to dress up is at Shreik-a-rama!! There is even a costume contest. I would like to extend a huge thank you to the many parents who are helping to keep our students safe by waiting outside the office at pick up time. We have asked that parents not wander onto campus and sit outside the classrooms but wait at the tables outside the MUR. Please respect our requests to stay at the front of the school and do not open the gates for other people before 2:28 p.m. The main gate by the office is always open and the other gates are opened at 2:28 p.m. The white zones outside the school are for drop off and pick up only - the driver MUST remain in the vehicle. If your child receives free and/or reduced lunch and you did not renew this year, please fill out the on-line renewal as soon as possible. Your child will not remain in the program after October 3rd unless you renew your application. Thank you to Chabot Parent Club for hosting a great bingo night, which was very well attended. Además, la primera semana de octubre es también la Edad para Navegar (Age of Sail) para nuestros estudiantes de quinto grado, las juntas de padres y maestros, y una junta para padres de familia del cuarto y quinto grado el 5 de octubre a las 6:30 en el MUR en relación con la Olimpiada de Ciencias (Science Olympiad). Las clases de Zumba para los estudiantes empiezan el jueves 5 de octubre, se puede registrar en línea para esta clase. El distrito patrocina la Universidad para Padres de Familia (Parent University) el 21 de octubre (vea por favor el folleto para obtener más información) y culminamos el mes con un Shreik-a-Rama el 27 de octubre y la Cena Dinámica, el evento de recaudación de fondos Ed Foundation, el mismo día. Su hijo no permanecerá en el programa después del 3 de octubre a menos que usted renueve su solicitud. Our children and adolescents are developing right before our eyes, continually changing and feeling their share of growing pains! As parents, we often wonder what s the best way to handle a situation or if our child s behavior is normal. A great place to explore these questions with other parents and some really helpful educators is Parent University! Castro Valley Adult & Career Education invites parents, grandparents, educators, and caregivers to its 6th annual event, scheduled for Saturday, October 21st. Participants will attend an inspiring morning of workshops on a wide selection of topics, such as Parenting Adventures in the Digital Realm: From Surviving to Thriving, Growing Readers for the 21st Century, and Managing Teen Stress.
