1 DeKalb PATH Academy School Parent Compact Revised September 10, 2018 DeKalb PATH Academy Charter School 3007 Hermance Drive Brookhaven, GA Crystal Felix- Clarke Principal What is a School -Parent Compact? A School-Parent Compact for Achievement is an agreement that parents, students, and teachers develop together. It explains how parents and teachers will work together to make sure all our students reach grade-level standards. Effective Compacts: 1. Link to goals of the school improvement plan. 2. Focus on student learning skills 3. Describe how teachers will help students develop those skills using high-quality instruction 4. Share strategies parents can use at home 5. Explain how teachers and parents will communicate about student progress 6. Describe opportunities for parents to volunteer, observe, and participate in the classroom Jointly Developed Parents, students, teachers, and faculty members work together to develop our school-parent compact. Each school year, two meetings are held for parents, teachers, and students to compare the compact with school data to review our progress and assess our goals. Parents are welcome to provide feedback on the compact at any time during the school year. All feedback will be collected and reviewed during the Title I Stakeholder s Input Meeting. This compact is uniquely developed to meet the needs and goals of our school and students. Goals of the DeKalb County School District: Goal Area 1: Student Success with Equity and Access Improve students mastery of learning standards The DCSD will increase the percentage of students scoring at the Developing Learner level or above on the GA Milestones English Language Arts End of Grade (EOG) Assessment. The DCSD will increase the percentage of students scoring at the Developing Learner level or above on the GA Milestones Math End of Grade (EOG) Assessment. At DeKalb PATH Academy, we will provide all students with high quality curriculum and instruction in a supportive and effective learning environment. Goals of Path Academy: By the end of school year, we will improve mastery of academically rigorous learning standards in reading by: Increasing the percentage of students showing growth on Math and ELA Milestones and scoring Proficient in Science by 5% in each grade level. Increasing the percentage of students exiting from ESOL by 5%. Increase the number of students who score a Distinguished on the Math and ELA Milestones.
2 At Path Academy, we will Provide training and resources for parents on how to support literacy at home at meetings in fall and spring semesters. Provide parents with online educational resources that will focus on Math. Communicate with parents via interpreters, Parent Liaison, parent teacher conferences, Infinite Campus, Remind app, WhatsApp, and school website on strategies to help with homework. As a Parent at Path Academy, I will Attend parent workshops and utilize resources and training provided by school. Assist my child with on line resources to help with math problem solving. Attend parent teacher conferences and ask questions to learn about my child s learning. Utilize interpreters and Parent Liaison to assist with learning strategies to help my child. As a student of Path Academy, I will. Attend Parent workshops with parents to practice strategies that help with learning at home. Utilize on line resources to reinforce what I learn during the school day. Apply strategies and resources provided to help with Math or homework. Activities to Build Partnerships: Curriculum Nights Parent-Teacher Conferences Title 1 Planning Meetings Daily Communication through Paychecks Cultural Events and Celebrations Fall Festival and Carnival Communication about Student Learning: School Website Parent-Teacher Conferences Infinite Campus Title 1 Planning Meetings Parent Volunteer Program Curriculum Night- by grade level Annual Title 1 Parent Meeting Georgia Milestones Night Remind App WhatsApp To volunteer at the school, meet with a teacher or schedule to visit a classroom, please call (404) Parents are also encouraged to volunteer during school events, PTA events, school clubs and community events. There are many opportunities for parents to volunteer at Path Academy. To volunteer in the classrooms, please contact the school. If you would like to observe in a classroom, please contact Mrs. Félix-Clarke, Principal Initiative Goals: I. Identify, support, and recognize highachieving, marginal, and underperforming students. II. Enhance the effectiveness of districtlevel and school-level leaders and teachers to inspire, teach, and train. III. Build capacities of parents, adult guardians, and mentors to support and improve student performance and academic success.

Proporcionar entrenamiento y recursos para padres enfocados en cómo las familias pueden apoyar la literatura en casa durante reuniones en los semestres otoño y primavera. Proporcionar a los padres recursos educativos en línea que se enfocarán en las matemáticas. Comunicarse con los padres a través de intérpretes, el enlace de padres, conferencias entre padres y maestros, Infinite Campus, Remind App, WhatsApp, y sitio de web escolar en estrategias para ayudar con tarea.
