5 The Verb SER What does the verb estar mean? There is another word in Spanish that means the same. ser -- to be soy eres es somos sois son Ser is more permanent than estar. While estar tells about where we are or how we are feeling at the moment, ser tells about our character and other more permanent things about us. Here are some adjectives to use with ser.
