You should begin to apply for financial aid so that your application can be submitted early. REMINDER: It is important that all seniors MEMORIZE their social security number. They will need it for the FAFSA. TIGER WOODS LEARNING CENTER: Tiger Woods Learning Center is now accepting applications for the Spring 2 session. The deadline is March 27, 2015. Please be sure and submit your application if you are interested. **Attached to this email is the application** SAT REGISTRATION: SAT registration is now open. Any Junior that needs help with the registration or needs a fee waiver for the SAT can come to the College and Career Center. If you have any questions please call Ms. Diaz at 714-999-3649 From the Counselors: 9 th Mrs. Durkin: Counselor is continuing to meet one on one with students to collect registration cards and answer questions. If you have questions about registration or classes for next year please feel free to contact the counseling office. Teachers turned in grade for 3 Quarter progress reports on Friday please expect a report card from your student next week. PLEASE check Aeries. 10 th Mrs. Pineda: If you and your child missed the PSAT Night where the PSAT results were distributed Ms. Pineda will be holding a quick final presentation March 4th and 5th for students to pick up and learn how to read the results. Please encourage your student to attend the presentation one of those days. The presentation will take place in the Katella Theater promptly after school at 2:45 p.m. Ms. Pineda will be picking up registration cards in Mr. Miranda, Mr. Ayala, and Mr. Surratt s world history class. So, please make sure you review what they will be taking next year and sign the registration card. Quarter report cards will be distributed March 5th. Please make sure you review the progress report and contact the teacher if your student gets a D or an F in any class. 2
11 th Mrs. Read is continuing to meet with all juniors individually through their U.S. History classes regarding next year s classes. Because she is doing this, she has limited time to respond to students Request to see Counselor forms. If your student has not been able to see her, please let your son or daughter know that she will address their questions when she meets one-onone with each student. This process will go through March 6. Please sign the registration form before your student turns it in. Juniors planning to attend a 4-year university directly after high school should register now for the upcoming SAT and/or ACT+writing. Go to the career center for a fee waiver and for help. The SAT prep class registration deadline is March 11. Please call 877-209-9079 to register. If your child would like to take a community college course this summer s/he can see Mrs. Read for the application. The class is free but parents are required to pay the $25 health fee and the cost of the book needed for the course. 12 th Mr. Hurtado: FAFSA deadline is MONDAY - please ask for help if you cannot complete the free application and we will help you. Counselors are assisting your students with applying to the community college starting March 1st until May. Please talk to your student to assist with determining which community college they want to attend. Community college application takes 15 minutes to complete. Once they apply the second step is to take a placement test. We will help your student if you will assist with encouraging them to make a decision as to which school and not to wait to fill out the application. POR FAVOR revisen el programa Aeries 10 mo La Sra. Pineda: Si ustedes y sus hijos no pudieron venir la noche que tuvimos la reunión PSAT en la que se entregaron los resultados PSAT, la Sra. Pineda tendrá una breve presentación el día 4 y 5 de marzo para que los estudiantes puedan recoger y aprender cómo leer estos resultados. Por favor anímenles a sus hijos para que asistan a la presentación en uno de esos días. La presentación tendrá lugar en el Teatro Katella inmediatamente después de las horas de escuela a las 2:45 pm. La Sra. Pineda va a recoger las tarjetas de inscripciones durante las clases de historia mundial de los señores Miranda, Ayala y Surratt. Por lo tanto les pido 7
revisen las clases que ellos van a tomar el próximo año y firmen la tarjeta de inscripción. Las boletas de calificaciones del tercer cuarto se distribuirán el 5 de marzo. Por favor, asegúrense de revisar el reporte de progreso y comuníquense con los maestros si sus hijos están obteniendo "D" o "F" en cualquiera de las clases. 11 avo La Sra. Read continúa reuniéndose con cada uno de los estudiantes del 11 avo grado durante la clase de Historia Americana para hablar acerca de las clases que tomarán el próximo año escolar. Debido a que ella está ocupada con las inscripciones, ella tiene muy poco tiempo para responder a la Solicitud para mirar un Consejero hecha por los estudiantes. Si sus hijos no han podido mirar a su consejera, háganles saber que ella contestará a sus preguntas el momento que se reúna con cada uno de ellos. Este proceso continuará hasta el 6 de marzo. Favor de firmar la tarjeta de inscripción antes de que sus hijos la entreguen. Los estudiantes del 11 avo grado que tienen planes para ingresar directamente a una universidad de 4 años, deben inscribirse para el examen SAT y ACT+ escritura. Vayan al Centro de Orientación Vocacional para obtener la exoneración del pago y para recibir ayuda. El último día para inscribirse en la clase de preparación SAT es el 11 de marzo. Para inscribirse, favor de llamar al 877-209-9079. Si a sus hijos les gustaría tomar un curso en algún colegio comunitario durante este verano, ellos pueden pedir la solicitud a la Sra. Reed. Por favor, hablen con sus hijos para que les ayuden a determinar a qué colegio comunitario les gustaría asistir. La solicitud para un colegio comunitario toma 15 minutos en completarse. Una vez que han entregado la solicitud, el segundo paso es tomar la prueba para determinar el de nivel de estudio. Aquí les ayudaremos a sus hijos si ustedes les ayudan a escoger el colegio comunitario al que quieren asistir y no esperan hasta el último para llenar la solicitud. 8
