Starting April 7 we begin our End of Year MAP testing. AIMS and Stanford 10 begin on the 14 th of April. DIBELS testing occurs on the 21 st and 22 nd of the month. And DRA2/IRIs will carry through to the end of the year. Students will have many opportunities to showcase their academic growth, but they ll need your help to be in top shape. Rest, nutrition and exercise are essential components to a child s development. Make sure they get to bed early to help save all the information their brains received throughout the day. Well balanced meals provide the nutrients that the brain needs to operate at maximum capacity. A strong body can support the brain better by providing it with more blood, carrying the fuel that powers thinking. Please help us with our Spring Festival. The Spring Festival is April 25, We are currently looking for donations of items that can be placed into our silent auction. If you have anything to donate or can put us in contact with someone who is willing to donate an item or service please contact the office. Also if you would like to volunteer at the event, we are in need of parents to help us set up and clean up. With all of us working together this will be another fun event for our families. Planning for next year will begin shortly. For this reason I want to ask all of you to genuinely consider serving the Heights students as part of our Parent Teacher Organization for the next school year. It is truly amazing what our parents do for our staff and community. From big events like Family Fun night, and fundraisers, to Family Dine out nights, we all participate at some level. Please consider joining our Board to be involved in the success of these events. We technically have 5 official positions on our Parent/Teacher Organization Board, but many times two people take on the different roles so that two people are sharing the responsibilities and in turn have double the ingenuity. Depending on the event, the level of responsibility asked of a group of volunteers varies. It takes all of us to make our school great. We have fun at our meetings and work together to make each event successful. Again, please consider joining our PTO Board next year. You will not be alone. You will have help and guidance throughout your year of service to Heights and you will have a fun time doing it. 2 14 de Marzo, 2014 Aprendizaje Extraordinario Para Todos Vacaciones de Primavera 17 de Marzo 21 de marzo 7150 N. 22 nd Street Phoenix, AZ Phone: Fax: Attendance: Health Office: Queridas Familias de Heights, Vacaciones de Primavera están aquí y muy necesitadas por nuestros estudiantes y maestros mientras se preparan para los exámenes del Estado de AIMS y Stanford 10. Empezando el 7 de abril comenzaremos los exámenes del distrito de fin de año. AIMS y Stanford 10 comienzan el 14 de abril. Los exámenes de lectura DIBELS se llevaran a cabo el 21 y 22 de Abril. Y los exámenes de lectura del distrito DRA2/IRIs se llevaran a cabo hasta el fin del año escolar. Los estudiantes tendrán munchas oportunidades de demostrar su crecimiento académico, pero necesitaran de su ayuda para estar dar su mejor desempeño. Descanso, nutrición y ejercicio son componentes esenciales para al desarrollo de un niño. Asegúrese de que su hijo/a valla a dormir temprano para ayudarle a retener toda la información que su cerebro recibió durante el día. Comidas balanceadas proveerán nutrientes necesitados para operar a máxima capacidad. Un cuerpo fuerte puede apoyar al cerebro mejor al proveerlo con más sangre, cual es llevada para aumentar las fuerzas del pensamiento. Por favor ayúdenos con nuestro festival de primavera. El Festival de primavera es el 25 de abril, Estamos en necesidad de donaciones para la subasta silenciosa. Si usted tiene algo que quisiera donar o nos puede poner en contacto con alguien que quiera donar algún artículo o servicio, por favor póngase en contacto con la oficina. Si usted desea ser voluntario para este evento estamos en búsqueda de padres que nos ayuden a arreglar y limpiar para este evento. Con todos trabajando juntos este será otro evento divertido para nuestras familias. Planear para el próximo año escolar empezara pronto. Por esta razón quiero pedirle que geniosamente considere servir como pare del comité de la Organización de Padres y Maestros para el próximo año escolar. Es verdaderamente asombroso lo que nuestros padres de familias hacen para nuestro personal y comunidad. Desde eventos grandes como Noche de Diversión Familiar, recaudaciones de fondos, Noche de Comidas Familiares, todos participamos de algún nivel. Por favor considere unirse a nuestro comité para estar involucrados en el éxito de estos eventos. Técnicamente tenemos 5 posiciones oficiales en nuestra Comité de Organización de Padres/Maestros, pero varias veces dos personas comparten el mismo puesto y comparten responsabilidades. Se necesita de todos para hacer nuestra escuela un lugar maravilloso. Nos divertimos en nuestras reuniones y trabajamos juntos para hacer cada evento exitoso. Una vez más, por favor considere unirse a la Organización de Padres y Maestros para el próximo año. Usted no estará solo. Usted tendrá ayuda y guía durante el año de servicio a Heights y usted tendrá un ano divertido haciéndolo. 4 Public Notice for Destruction of Records Following the microfilming of these records, all original permanent cumulative records of students born in 1997 who have withdrawn from the Madison School District will be destroyed. In addition, all permanent cumulative records of students who promoted out of Madison schools in 2011 will be destroyed. Before any records are destroyed, parents have the right to review and obtain copies of their child s records. Schools cannot delay enrollment. Continue in the school they attended before becoming homeless or the school they last attended Receive transportation to and from the school they attended before becoming homeless or the school they last attended, if requested. Register any students new to the school 2. Find out who your child s teacher is 3. Pick up a bus schedule 4. Pick up a list of possible supplies you can purchase 5. Update your emergency information 6. Pay on your child s lunch account or sign up for free or reduced lunch 7. Pay the $50 activity fee. 8. Join the P.T.O. MARQUE SUS CALENDARIOS! Pagar la contribución de actividades de $50 8. Unirse a la Organización de Padres y Maestros. Music News First graders will be performing Alice in Songland Thursday April 10 th in the cafeteria. Students should report to their homerooms at 5:45pm. Showtime is at 6:00pm in the cafeteria. Kindergarten will be having their show on May 1 st. Fourth graders are invited to perform for this year s Madison Bash on Saturday April 5 th. It will be located at Madison #1 on Missouri and 16 th street. Be on the lookout for more information coming soon! And finally, there is a talent show (fourth grade only) scheduled for Thursday May 8 th at 8:30am. Have a great break!
