1 Extraordinary Learning for All 7150 N. 22 nd Street Phoenix, AZ Phone: Fax: Attendance: Health Office: March 14, 2014 SPRING BREAK March 17th March 21st Dear Heights Families, Spring Break is here and it is much needed for our students and teachers as they prepare for AIMS and Stanford 10. Starting April 7 we begin our End of Year MAP testing. AIMS and Stanford 10 begin on the 14 th of April. DIBELS testing occurs on the 21 st and 22 nd of the month. And DRA2/IRIs will carry through to the end of the year. Students will have many opportunities to showcase their academic growth, but they ll need your help to be in top shape. Rest, nutrition and exercise are essential components to a child s development. Make sure they get to bed early to help save all the information their brains received throughout the day. Well balanced meals provide the nutrients that the brain needs to operate at maximum capacity. A strong body can support the brain better by providing it with more blood, carrying the fuel that powers thinking. Please help us with our Spring Festival. The Spring Festival is April 25, We are currently looking for donations of items that can be placed into our silent auction. If you have anything to donate or can put us in contact with someone who is willing to donate an item or service please contact the office. Also if you would like to volunteer at the event, we are in need of parents to help us set up and clean up. With all of us working together this will be another fun event for our families. Planning for next year will begin shortly. For this reason I want to ask all of you to genuinely consider serving the Heights students as part of our Parent Teacher Organization for the next school year. It is truly amazing what our parents do for our staff and community. From big events like Family Fun night, and fundraisers, to Family Dine out nights, we all participate at some level. Please consider joining our Board to be involved in the success of these events. We technically have 5 official positions on our Parent/Teacher Organization Board, but many times two people take on the different roles so that two people are sharing the responsibilities and in turn have double the ingenuity. Depending on the event, the level of responsibility asked of a group of volunteers varies. It takes all of us to make our school great. We have fun at our meetings and work together to make each event successful. Again, please consider joining our PTO Board next year. You will not be alone. You will have help and guidance throughout your year of service to Heights and you will have a fun time doing it. Los estudiantes tendrán munchas oportunidades de demostrar su crecimiento académico, pero necesitaran de su ayuda para estar dar su mejor desempeño. Descanso, nutrición y ejercicio son componentes esenciales para al desarrollo de un niño. Asegúrese de que su hijo/a valla a dormir temprano para ayudarle a retener toda la información que su cerebro recibió durante el día. Comidas balanceadas proveerán nutrientes necesitados para operar a máxima capacidad. 4 Public Notice for Destruction of Records Following the microfilming of these records, all original permanent cumulative records of students born in 1997 who have withdrawn from the Madison School District will be destroyed. In addition, all permanent cumulative records of students who promoted out of Madison schools in 2011 will be destroyed. Before any records are destroyed, parents have the right to review and obtain copies of their child s records. Students should report to their homerooms at 5:45pm. Showtime is at 6:00pm in the cafeteria. Kindergarten will be having their show on May 1 st. Fourth graders are invited to perform for this year s Madison Bash on Saturday April 5 th. It will be located at Madison #1 on Missouri and 16 th street. Be on the lookout for more information coming soon! And finally, there is a talent show (fourth grade only) scheduled for Thursday May 8 th at 8:30am. Have a great break!
