4 Spanish Language Immersion Program Vision: Empower students to become successful bilingual, biliterate, bicultural citizens through a research-based, comprehensive Pre-K -12 Spanish Language Immersion Program. 14 Biographies Hi I m Jennifer Nelson. It is such a privilege to join the Lake Elmo Kindergarten team and be a part of the committee developing a new immersion program here. I have been teaching elementary school for 25 years. For the past 8 years I have taught kindergarten in a Spanish dual immersion program in St. Paul. My first teaching position was at the American Nicaraguan School in Managua, Nicaragua, where I taught 2nd, 3rd and 4th grades, including multi-age classes. While there, I earned my Master s Degree in Elementary Education and learned to speak Spanish. I look forward to working and learning with this community.

16 My name is Kim Johnson and I am a Kindergarten teacher at Lake Elmo Elementary. I am very excited to be a part of the committee that will bring Spanish Immersion to our community. I have five years of experience working in a two-way immersion program at Paul and Sheila Wellstone Elementary for St. Paul Public Schools. I have a degree in Spanish and International Relations from the University of Minnesota. I studied abroad in Los Mochis, Sinaloa, Mexico for 11 months when I was in high school. It was through my immersion experience that I learned Spanish. I m very excited to help develop the immersion program at Lake Elmo.
