3 SECOND PRE-K CLASS OPENING AT SS. SIMON & JUDE CATHEDRAL SCHOOL SS. Simon & Jude Cathedral School is pleased to announce that we will be opening a second Pre-Kindergarten class. The SSJ Pre-Kindergarten classroom is an academic program to assist in children s development in a faith-filled environment. The Pre-K curriculum emphasizes language development, basic math skills, writing, science and the development of listening, following directions, sharing, asking questions and social skills. We nurture and balance the social and academic growth of each child as a whole person. Our fully accredited and licensed Pre-K is a full day program, with students needing to be 4 years old by September 1st. There is financial assistance available for those who qualify. SS. Simon & Jude Cathedral School also has openings in Kindergarten class through 7th grade for next year. Incoming Kindergarten students must be 5 years old by September 1st. 4 PERPETUAL EUCHARISTIC ADORATION CATHEDRAL GIFT SHOP The specific way that Jesus asks you to love him in return is to spend one quiet hour with him in the Blessed Sacrament. ALL SCHEDULED ADORERS We are concerned about the coverage for our Perpetual Eucharistic Adoration Chapel now that Summer is here. If you are unable to make your Adoration hour commitment and are unable to find someone to fill in for you, Please inform your Hourly Captain (In Advance) so they have adequate time to find a replacement. 5 ALTAR BOYS AND ADULT SERVERS SOUTH AFRICA MISSION Have you ever thought about serving at the altar during Mass? Wondered what it takes? If you re interested in becoming an altar boy and you re going into fifth grade or older, please join us for the following five days of training: July AM to 12 Noon Parents, please accompany your sons into the Cathedral on the first day. We are always looking for a few good men to join the ranks of our men in black, too! This is a great way to serve the Lord with your son. VENERABLE MARY WARD The life and example of Mary Ward has planted seeds of life throughout the world. St. Theresa of Calcutta began her vocation in religious life as a Loreto Sister before founding her order to serve the poor. Women are still joining the ranks of the Institute of the Blessed Virgin Mary that was founded by Mary Ward. These religious women are known as the Loreto Sisters and their numbers are growing all over the world. They have novices in such countries as Tanzania, DR Congo, Kenya, India, Nepal, Manila, Canada, Vietnam. Please join our community and the Loreto Sisters around the world to pray or attend Mass especially on the 23rd of each month, for the success of the cause for the Beatification and Canonization of Mary Ward. 6 ST. VINCENT DE PAUL In the Gospel today we see how Jesus sent his Apostles out two by two. From the beginning of the Society of St Vincent de Paul, members visit in pairs two by two, those who are poor and needy in their homes. It is there, in the family setting, that Vincentians listen, offer humble advice and render assistance. We are only able to do this though your generosity. Any non-perishable food donations may be left in the Parish Office or Gift Shop. SPECIAL REQUEST The Society of St. Vincent de Paul funds their own expenses, separately from the parish. Recently they were in need of a new air conditioning unit and the parish covered the unbudgeted expenses. We are hoping to get monetary donations designated to offset the cost to the parish. If you would like to help, please make a donation in any amount, by either: 1) Write a check made out to SS. Simon & Jude Cathedral, write SVDP A/C on the memo line and drop the check in the Sunday collection or bring it by the parish office 2) Go to simonjude.org and click donate now Under the heading Cathedral Departments Enter the amount of your donation in the box next to Designated Gift and enter SVDP A/C in the box telling the parish office how to use the donation. El salón de prejardín de infantes de SSJ es un programa académico para ayudar en el desarrollo de los niños en un ambiente lleno de fe. El currículo de pre-kínder hace hincapié en el desarrollo del lenguaje, las habilidades matemáticas básicas, la escritura, la ciencia y el desarrollo de la escucha, seguir instrucciones, compartir, hacer preguntas y habilidades sociales. Nutrimos y balanceamos el crecimiento social y académico de cada niño como una persona completa. Nuestro Pre-kínder totalmente acreditado y con licencia es un programa de día completo, y los estudiantes deben tener 4 años antes del 1 de septiembre.
