Dear Parents/Guardians, Winridge Elementary School is a federally funded School-Wide Title I School. Title I is part of the of No Child Left Behind. Title I requires that school create a positive and supportive learning environment that results in high levels of achievement for all students. Funds are available for academic programs and strategies, additional teachers, other personnel, staff development, materials and supplies, technology and parent training. We look forward to working with you and your child to make this a rewarding school year. If you have question or concerns, please contact the school office. Limit the number of time my child is picked up from school before 3:15p.m. and dropped off after 8:30a.m. Support the school with its efforts to maintain proper discipline. Establish a quiet time for homework and help if needed. Provide a quiet, well-lighted place for study. Encourage my child and be available to answer questions. Be aware of what my child is learning. Provide a library card for my child. Read with my child and let my child see me reading. Comunícate with my child s teacher frequently. Attend scheduled parent conferences and parent meetings. Come to school with books, pencils, paper, and other materials. Complete and return homework assignments. Keep regular study hours. Conform to rules of student conduct. Provide necessary assistance to parents so they can help with the assignments. Provide students and parents with information about student progress bi-weekly. Use special activities in the classroom to make learning enjoyable. Provide high quality curriculum and instruction for a supportive and effective learning environment. 5 WINRIDGE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL TITLE I FAMILY ENGAGEMENT PLAN (Revised June, 2013) The Family Engagement Plan at Winridge places a strong emphasis on the educational process. Our primary goal is one that allows parents in conjunction with the school to explore ways to ensure the success of all students. This can be accomplished when parents are willing to: 1. Get to know your child's school, its aims, and its attitude toward the values and beliefs you hold. 2. Take a deep interest in your child s homework. Read with him/her frequently. 3. Attend school-related activities and serve as consultant. 4. Respond in a timely and on-going manner to materials disseminated that require input, which affects Winridge Elementary School. 5. Refer to the school s Parent and Student Handbook for all questions regarding the rules and regulations outlined by the school. Title I Involvement 1. Distribute timely information in reference to Winridge s Title I Family Engagement Plan to parents. 2. Encourage academic and non-academic classroom visitations by parents. 3. Consistently provide parents and ELL parents with a description and explanation of the curriculum in use at the school, student progress reports, forms of academic assessments used to measure student progress and the results, and expected proficiency levels in an understandable manner. 4. Actively solicit parent feedback. 5. Provide parents with a copy of the Family Engagement Plan and parent-school compact. To ensure that our parents participate in the development and implementation of the school's program, we will do the following: 1. Invite parents to serve on the Site-Based Committee. 2. Schedule parent-teacher conferences to discuss problems or concerns upon request. 3. Schedule annual meetings to explain the components and requirements of Title I. 4. Involved parents in an organized, ongoing, and timely way, in the planning, review, and improvement of a Parent-School Compact and a Family Engagement Plan showing how parents, schools, and students share responsibilities. 5. Offer workshops for parents in parenting skills, technology and literacy. 6. Provide regular meetings at flexible times for parents to participate in decisions relating to their child s education. 7. Provide parents with copies of grade-level curriculum, as provided by the District (brochures). I have read and received the Family Engagement Plan. Parent Signature Date
