Faustina wrote in herher, I promise that the soul that will venerate this image will not perish. The celebration of Divine Mercy Sunday is an opportunity to reflect on the theme of how God s mercy can overcome sin and, as the Congregation for Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments states, a perennial invitation to the Christian world to face, with confidence in divine benevolence, the difficulties and trials that mankind will experience in the years to come. This is the Sunday in which we are reminded of the Resurrection of the Lord - first fruit of his Mercy!

4 Page 4 Second Sunday of Easter April 23, 2017 SEGUNDO DOMINGO DE PASCUA La liturgia de este domingo tiene su punto específico en la proclamación del evangelio de Juan. Cada año leemos lo mismo precisamente porque nos acerca el misterio de este domingo. Primero remarca que el domingo proviene del Señor. El primer domingo de Pascua es el día de la manifestación del Resucitado, primero a las mujeres, después a los discípulos. La primera preocupación del Señor es reunir a los discípulos después del escándalo de la cruz. El segundo domingo, el primer día de la semana, esto es, hoy, el Resucitado vuelve a reunir a los discípulos para confirmarlos en la fe. Así, el Señor nos indicó que su día era el domingo porque este era el día en el que él quería encontrarse con los discípulos. Juan, el discípulo desterrado en Patmos, se encontró precisamente en el día del Señor con aquél que había muerto y ahora vive eternamente, el primero y el último, que tiene las llaves de la muerte y de su reino porque la ha vencido. Creer, nos dice el evangelio de hoy, es renunciar a ver con los ojos de la carne, a tocar con las manos, a meter el dedo en las heridas del crucificado para identificar al resucitado. Creer es buscar y encontrar al Señor, nuestro Dios, en la asamblea de los que creen que Jesús es el Mesías, de los que encuentran en los sacramentos la vida que ha brotado de la cruz. presencia vivificante del Señor que nos reúne por el Espíritu en la Iglesia donde no cesa de predicarnos el Evangelio y de partir para nosotros el pan. Cada domingo somos felices por este encuentro con el Señor. Antes de la resurrección, no había venido el Espíritu Santo (Jn 7, 39). La tarde del primer domingo de Pascua, Jesús resucitado dio el Espíritu Santo a los apóstoles, exhalando su aliento sobre ellos. El Espíritu es el aliento de la nueva creación. El Espíritu es la fuerza que reciben los apóstoles que los hace hombres nuevos, luchadores contra el mal, liberadores del pecado, para ir formando dentro del mundo la nueva creación.
