We see in our neighbor the sin we reject and many times the sin of our neighbor is our sin, and therefore we are scandalized. We find ourselves many times prisoners of our incapability to accept, welcome and love the other the way he is. We do have the intention to do good and love the other, but many times we fall short. Then we may ask ourselves: What does the Good News has to do with my life? What kind of difference does Christ make in my life? The Resurrection of Christ is the only true News capable to change the world: a man who comes back from the dead! This Event is like a new creation. The very fact actually that there is the certainty of a life beyond death in God allows us not to be restrained by fear: fear of loving the other, fear of giving up one s life and fear of not being loved. This is the joy that moves Paul and Barnabas to proclaim the Good News in Asia Minor, to spend their life in order that Salvation may be announced. To announce Christ risen from the dead is to bring the Kingdom of Heaven to those who accept it - it is to bring heaven down to earth! If we accept that today s Gospel and the meaning of the Cross contained within it, we will see the Glory of God. The Lord talks about the Cross when He says: Now is the Son of Man to be glorified. What is God s Glory? It is to show the immensity of Christ s love and forgiveness by his hanging on the Cross for us: this is the Father s Glory! We all are invited to accept this love. If we do so, if we trust this Gospel, then the Holy Spirit will accompany us. In this way, we will receive the grace to love the other by entering in our daily cross, and so fulfilling Our Lord s words: love one another as I have loved you. This is the goal of the transforming grace of God: not to love the other in our strength, but by receiving the Holy Spirit to do so.

4 Page 4 Fifth Sunday of Easter April 24, 2016 Quinto Domingo de Pascua Cada día tenemos una particular experiencia: no ser capaces de amar al prójimo en su realidad, aceptándolo por lo que él es. Vemos en nuestro prójimo nuestro mismo pecado, y esto nos escandaliza. Nos vemos muchas veces como cautivos de nuestra incapacidad de aceptar los demás. Tenemos en realidad la buena intención de desear el bien, pero muchas veces es el mal lo que sale de nuestros corazones. Entonces, nos podríamos preguntar: cómo me puede ayudar la Resurrección de Cristo en mi querer amar? La Resurrección de Cristo es la única verdadera Buena Nueva que cambia el mundo: un hombre que regresa de los muertos! Este Evento es como una nueva creación. El mismo hecho de que hay vida eterna en Dios, es la fuerza que nos libra del miedo: del miedo de amar al otro, del miedo de dar uno su vida por el otro y del miedo de no ser amado. Esta certitud de la vida eterna era lo que animaba Pablo y Bernabé a proclamar la Salvación en toda Asia Menor, a gastar sus vidas para anunciar la Buena Nueva. Proclamar a Cristo resucitado es llevar el Reino de los Cielos a los que lo desean es hacer bajar el Cielo en la tierra! Si hoy aceptamos el Evangelio de este Domingo y el sentido de la Cruz que Él lleva consigo, veremos la gloria de Dios. El Señor nos dirige a su Cruz cuando dice ahora el Hijo del Hombre será glorificado. Que es la gloria de Dios? Es mostrar el poder inmenso del perdón y amor de Cristo por medio de su padecer en la Cruz. Todo mundo es invitado participar en este amor. Si creemos a este Evangelio entonces el Espíritu Santo nos acompañará. De esta manera, recibiremos la gracia de amar el otro en la dimensión de nuestra cruz diaria. Esta es la meta a donde Cristo quiere llevarnos: a un amor no hecho de esfuerzos, sino a un amor gratuito que viene de Dios.
