Cultural Diversity Class Over View: This course is designed to better prepare you into becoming a proficient Spanish speaker. The summer assignment consists of two components: 1) activities in Chapter Para Empezar 2) Summer Post Card Project. The activities will be graded based on whether your responses are correct or incorrect. The Summer Post Card must display comprehension of Spanish 1 & 2 content. Grading Scale: A: 90-100% B: 80-89% C: 70-79% D: 60-69% F: 59% and below Grades: Your grade will consist of participation, class work, homework, projects, quizzes, tests and finals. (Note: Final exams will be cumulative.) Extra Credit Policy: Extra credit will not be offered. Make-up practices: Make-up tests must be arranged by the students with the instructor before school, after school, or during lunch.
Homework Practices: (including frequency) Homework is given daily. If classwork is not finished in class, it is always homework. Assignments range from the practice workbooks, the textbook, vocabulary, responses, questions, projects, or essays. Late work: You are responsible for making up missed work due to excused absences. You will have the number of days allowed per Conduct Code. NO OTHER LATE WORK WILL BE ACCEPTED Attendance: Attendance is essential in order for success when learning a new language. If you miss class, it is your responsibility to get the materials/assignments you missed and complete them on your own time. Tardiness: You are expected to be in your seat when the tardy bell rings. As per the student conduct code, three tardies will result in a note home; four or more tardies will result in a referral and detention either during lunch or after school. After 5 tardies, you will receive a U in citizenship for the quarter. Citizenship Grade: Outstanding Citizenship: No more than one tardy, no discipline referrals, positive contribution to class activities, excellent conduct and attitude in class. Satisfactory Citizenship: No more than four tardies, no discipline referrals, most assignments completed and turned in on time, positive contribution to class activities, good conduct and attitude in class. Unsatisfactory Citizenship: Five or more tardies, discipline referrals, many incomplete or missing assignments, few positive contributions to class activities, or poor conduct and attitude in class. A referral is NOT necessary to receive an unsatisfactory citizenship grade. School materials: You need to come prepared with your school materials every day. This includes, but is not limited to, a pen or pencil, paper, notebook, your textbook and workbooks. Textbooks and workbooks will be used every day. If you do not bring your materials to class 5 days or more, you will receive a U in citizenship for the quarter. Classroom rules: 1. Be on time. Use class time to complete the assigned work. 2. Be prepared and be in your seat when the class bell rings. 3. Participate and ask questions. 4. Be respectful of others. Put downs, bad language, rudeness and destructive behavior will not be tolerated. 5. No cell phones. 6. No gum, food, or drinks. Activities: Va a haber exámenes de vocabulario y gramática, resúmenes, proyectos y presentaciones, actividades escritas, para escuchar y hablar, trabajo de guided practice y practice workbook, diarios(journals) y ensayos en español. Grading: Tú calificación será basada en escala ponderada (weighted scale). No acepto tarea entregada tarde, al menos de que hayas perdido un día de clase que será verificada por la oficina. SUMMER ASSIGNMENT ~ DUE DATE IS THE 1ST BLOCK PERIOD DAY OF THE 2015-2016 SCHOOL YEAR! Tarea del verano: Primero, tienes que ir a la biblioteca en Gregori, y agarrar el libro Realidades 3 (esta verde). Abre tu libro a la página 2. Cada actividad tiene que ser contesta en español, con oraciones completas. Parte A: Actividades 1, 2, 3 (ejemplo: Yo como muy saludable casi todos los días.) 5 (Sólo parte 1, 4 oraciones), 7, 8, 9 (parte 1 y 2), 10 (6 oraciones), 11, 12 (4-5 oraciones), 13, 15 (parte 1 y 2), 16 (parte 1 y 2), 19, 20, y 21. Escribe todas tus actividades en hojas de papel (binder paper). Parte B: Direcciones- Vas a escribir una carta postal (Post Card) a tu mejor amigo (a). Vas a describir tus vacaciones del verano. Tienes que dibujar la carta postal, y escribirla en computadora. La carta tiene que ser escrita en formato de carta. También incluye un domicilio (can be a made up address). Tienes que incluir 1) A dónde fuiste de vacaciones? 2) Con quién? 3) Qué hiciste? 4) Practicaste deportes? 5) Hiciste algo interesante? 6) Tuviste más tarea para otra clase avanzada? 7) Incluye algo interesante.
