2 PASTOR S PERSPECTIVE Dear Parishioners: The Bible (Mark 2:1 12) tells us the story of a paralyzed man who was completely helpless. He couldn t walk or do anything by himself. The only way he could get around was by his friends carrying him. Then the news got around that Jesus was healing people in Capernaum, that he just healed a woman with a fever and a man with leprosy. And the man s friends said, Let s take our friend to Jesus. So, these four friends put the paralyzed man on a mat and carried him to the door of the house where Jesus was preaching. But, the house was so full of people that they couldn t get in. Like most houses there, this house was built with a flat roof and an outside staircase. So, the men carried their friend up the stairs to the top of the roof. Then, they tore the roof off and lower him down with ropes, right in front of Jesus. Of course, Jesus healed and changed that man s life. As people come back from their summer vaca on, students go back to school, and life returns to normal, this is a good Biblical story for us to reflect upon. The most important thing for us to do in life is to get to Jesus. We may not be physically paralyzed, but we all need Jesus healing touch. The most touching part of this story, however, is how the paralyzed man got to Jesus. If it wasn t for the friends who held the ropes, the man might never get to Jesus. Who is holding your ropes today? Make sure they are the ones who get you to Jesus. Our parish depends on you our parishioners to hold our ropes. As we begin our mul -year plan of renova ng our parish s four buildings, we will be faced with financial and structural difficul es. Thank you for your GUADALUPE RUN The Diocesan Mexican Apostolate is again organizing a run to the Co-Cathedral of St. Joseph at 10:00 AM on December 12 in honor of Our Lady of Guadalupe. Anyone 13 years or older can par cipate. The cost is $45 per person which includes the uniform. The run will conclude with Mass at the co-cathedral. At the end of the Mass, the Bishop will bless the torches that each parish group will carry back to their parish. 3 PERSPECTIVA DEL PÁRROCO Estimados feligreses: La Biblia (Marcos 2: 1-12) nos cuenta la historia de un hombre paralizado que estaba completamente indefenso. No podía caminar ni hacer nada por sí mismo. La única manera que podía movilizarse era por medio de sus amigos que lo llevaban. Entonces se dio la noticia de que Jesús estaba sanando a la gente en Cafarnaúm, que él solo sanó a una mujer con iebre y un hombre con lepra. Y los amigos del hombre dijeron: Llevemos a nuestro amigo a Jesús. Entonces, estos cuatro amigos pusieron al paralítico en una alfombra y lo llevaron a la puerta de la casa donde Jesús estaba predicando. Pero, la casa estaba tan llena de gente que no podían entrar. Como la mayoría de las casas allí, esta casa fue construida con un techo plano y una escalera exterior. Así, los hombres subieron a su amigo por las escaleras hasta la cima del techo. Entonces, rompieron el techo y lo bajaron con cuerdas, justo delante de Jesús. Por supuesto, Jesús sanó y cambió la vida de ese hombre. Cuando la gente vuelve de sus vacaciones de verano, los estudiantes regresan a la escuela, y la vida vuelve a ser normal, esta es una buena historia bı blica para que podamos re lexionar. Lo ma s importante que debemos hacer en la vida es llegar a Jesu s. No podemos estar fıśicamente paralizados, pero todos necesitamos el toque curativo de Jesu s. Sin embargo, la parte ma s conmovedora de esta historia, es co mo el hombre paralizado llego a Jesu s. Si no fuera por los amigos que sostenıán las cuerdas, el hombre nunca uvera llegado a Jesu s. Quie n esta sosteniendo sus cuerdas hoy? Asegu rate de que son los que te llevan a Jesu s. Nuestra parroquia depende de ustedes nuestros feligreses para sostener nuestras cuerdas. Al comenzar nuestro plan plurianual de renovacio n de los cuatro edi icios de nuestra parroquia, nos encontraremos con di icultades inancieras y estructurales.
