This half term we will be Sport and Healthy Eating in Spanish and covering themes 1 and 2. The aim of the MFL curriculum is to cover all topics and themes throughout Key Stage Three in a more simplified version but using the skills we will need to achieve good grades. This half term we will be practicing role play situations from theme 1 and 2, translations and picture descriptions which are to be found in both speaking and writing elements of the GCSE exam.

CAN YOU TALK ABOUT FUTURE PLANS AND HEALTHY CHOICES FOR THE FU- TURE? There are four skills in learning a language; listening, speaking, reading and writing and each one is given equal weight and importance at GCSE level. To achieve a GCSE in a foreign language you need to be able to; listen and comprehend what is being said in a foreign language, speak and present yourself and your life in a foreign language, read authentic materials and understand their meaning in a foreign language understanding also great Spanish authors and poets and be able to translate sentences and paragraphs into English and finally translate English into Spanish, write sentences about a picture; describing what you see, what is happening and express your opinion and write paragraphs and essays of 40, 90 and 150 words at GCSE level. By the end of Year 8 you should be writing 90 words from memory on known topics with some confidence.

4 Homework for week 1 and 2: Revision Homework 1: WRITE OUT THE VOCABULARY FROM THE VOCAB LIST THREE TIMES PER WORD OR PHRASE INTO YOUR LITTLE RED BOOKS. TEST AFTER TWO WEEKS. Homework for week 3 and 4: Developing passive skills Mi comida favorita es la comida india porque es la comida que mi madre cocina en casa y pienso que es deliciosa. Prefiero la comida india a la comida inglesa porque es más variada y porque me encanta la comida picante. Creo que llevo una dieta equilibrada porque intento comer frutas y verduras y variado, además intento evitar la comida basura porque contiene muchas grasas y es mala para la salud. El año que viene por el cumpleaños de mi hermano me gustaría ir a un restaurante italiano porque me encanta la comida italiana, como por ejemplo la pasta y la pizza, pero no creo que vayamos porque a mi padre no le gusta nada. Cuando era más joven, mi hermano celebraba su cumpleaños en casa. Mi madre hacía bocadillos y los amigos de mi hermano venían a casa. Comíamos bocadillos, patatas fritas (crisps) y bebíamos refrescos. Me gustaba más cuando éramos pequeños porque después podíamos jugar en el jardín toda la tarde. Qué debemos hacer para llevar una vida sana? En el futuro qué vas a hacer para llevar una vida sana? MODEL ANSWER: Generalmente bebo café por la mañana pero me gusta el agua también. Después tomo mi desayuno; tostadas con mermelada. Mi madre no come nada porque no le gusta desayunar. Creo que como sano pero de vez en cuando como la comida basura como patatas fritas y pizza. Me gusta beber vino tinto pero no me gustan los refrescos. Prefiero el zumo de manzana. No hago deportes regularmente porque soy muy perezosa pero me gusta hacer natación. Ayer comí una ensalada y bebí dos tazas de té. La semana pasada practiqué vela y jugué al baloncesto con mis amigas. Quiero comer más sano pero me gustan mucho el chocolate y los caramelos. Para llevar una vida sana debemos beber agua frecuentemente. En el verano yo voy a hacer más deporte y no voy a comer carne. Quiero ser vegetariana.
