Now, introduce the teacher to another student. Actividad 1: El Primer Día de Clases It s the first day of school. Introduce yourself to a new class of students. Here are suggestions for information you might want to include. Cómo te llamas? De dónde eres? Qué grado o qué materias enseñas? Cuánto tiempo estás en esta escuela? Quiénes son los miembros de tu familia? Con quién vives? Tienes mascotas? Qué deportes te gustan? Qué te gusta hacer en tu tiempo libre? Qué comidas te gustan? Qué color prefieres? Questions that can be answered yes or no are phrased just like statements, but your voice rises at the end to indicate that you are asking a question. Actividad 2: Como Conocer a los Estudiantes How would you ask a student where he is from? how many brothers or sisters she has? what sports he likes? what her phone number is? when his birthday is?...how he or she travels to school?...whether they have pets? 4 Spanish for Educators, Level 2, Actividad 3: Cómo Conocer a los Padres Don t translate the questions word for word. Just use the Spanish vocabulary you know to figure out a way to get the information. There are many ways to do so. How would you ask a parent what their child s favorite subject is? if their child has any medical problems? if you may call them at work? what their work phone number is? what you should know about their child that will help you work with him? People under the age of 12 are niños. It becomes a lifetime relationship as well as a responsability. The relationship of compadres is between the child s parents and godparents. Compadres are considered part of the family.

9 Actividad 5: Make Your Own Requests Use verbs you have already seen and some of the ones suggested in the previous page to complete this activity. What requests do you need to make in your classroom? Address one student, and then give the same command for a group of students. What are some things you ask your students not to do? 11 Actividad 6: El Plano de Su Escuela Aquí hay un ejemplo de una descripción del plano de una escuela: Ahora, haz una descripción del plano de tu escuela y luego compártela con un compañero. Cuando entras a la escuela por la entrada principal, la oficina de la directora está inmediatamente a la derecha. Entra a la oficina y a la izquierda está la clínica. Sal de la oficina y dobla a la derecha. Continúa por el pasillo y a la izquierda está el gimnasio. El gimnasio también es la cafetería. Al lado del gimnasio están las escaleras para subir al segundo piso donde están los salones del tercer, cuarto y quinto grado. También está el laboratorio de computadoras. En el primer piso, pasando las escaleras está la biblioteca a la izquierda, y a la derecha están unas oficinas y los baños. Sigue derecho hasta el final del pasillo y dobla a la derecha.
