1 SCHOOL-PARENT COMPACT Antonia Pantoja Charter School, and the parents of the students participating in activities, services, and programs funded by Title I, Part A of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA) agree that this compact outlines how the parents, the entire school staff, and the students will share the responsibility for improved student academic achievement and the means by which the school and parents will build and develop a partnership that will help children achieve the State s high standards.this school-parent compact is in effect during school year REQUIRED SCHOOL-PARENT COMPACT PROVISIONS School Responsbilities: The Antonia Pantoja Charter School will: 1. Provide high-quality curriculum and instruction in a supportive and effective learning environment that enables the participating children to meet the State s student academic achievement standards as follows: Assure every student access to quality learning experiences appropriate to their development. Assure that the school staff communicates clear expectations for performance to both students and parents. Provide a safe, positive and healthy learning environment for each student. 2. Hold parent-teacher conferences (at least annually in elementary schools) during which this compact will be discussed as it relates to the individual child s achievement. Specifically, those conferences will be held: December April 3. Provide parents with frequent reports on their children s progress. Specifically, the K-8 school will provide reports as follows: Report cards will be issued three times per year Interim reports are sent in November, March and May Individual teachers send additional test and assignment grades to parents throughout the year. Parents are invited to monitor their child s progress with classroom visits. 4. Provide parents reasonable access to staff. Specifically, staff will be available for consultation with parents as follows: Parents may contact teachers via phone, note/communication folder, or , to discuss their child An appointment can be made with individual teachers to discuss their child Every staff person can parents, use class dojo, sends notes home, updates grades on Powerschool

Provide parents opportunities to volunteer and participate in their child s class, and to observe classroom activities, as follows: Parents are always welcome to volunteer to work in classrooms or in other capacities in the building, or attend field trips provided they have their clearances current. Parent Responsibilities We, as parents, will support our children s learning in the following ways: Send my child to school regularly, on time, well fed and well rested. Create an atmosphere in my home that supports learning by encouraging reading and other academic pursuits. Setting a time for homework to be done; be available to help keep your child on task. Review all school communications and respond promptly. Encouraging your child to use reference books, computers and the library. Set high standards for neatness, form and accuracy. Give your child praise for his/her work. Ensure that your child reads for at least thirty minutes every night. Parents should read or share reading with kindergarten and first grade students. Helping your child avoid distractions such as television, video games, loud radio music Attend school functions and conferences and participate in decisions relating to my child. Encourage my child to demonstrate respect for school personnel, classmates and school property. Join the Home and School association and become an active member. Notify the classroom teacher if your child is having problems completing assignments. Serving, to the extent possible, on policy advisory groups, such as being the Title I, Part A parent representative on the school s School Improvement Team, the Title I Policy Advisory Committee, the District-wide Policy Advisory Council, the State s Committee of Practitioners, the School Support Team or other school advisory or policy groups. Student Responsibilities We, as students, will share the responsibility to improve our academic achievement and achieve the State s high standards. Specifically, we will: Come to school on time each day with a positive attitude. Be a cooperative learner and carry out the teacher s instructions and directions. Take part in academic programs such as Study Island, and reading for pleasure in my free time. Deliver all school communications home in a timely manner. Be respectful to school personnel, other students and school property. Become a lifelong learner. The Antonia Pantoja Charter School will: 1. Involve parents in the planning, review, and improvement of the school s parental involvement policy, in an organized, ongoing, and timely way.
3 2. Involve parents in the joint development of any school wide program plan, in an organized, ongoing, and timely way. 3. Hold an annual meeting to inform parents of the school s participation in Title I, Part A programs, and to explain the Title I, Part A requirements, and the right of parents to be involved in Title I, Part A programs. The school will convene the meeting at a convenient time to parents, and will offer a flexible number of additional parental involvement meetings, such as in the morning or evening, so that as many parents as possible are able to attend. The school will invite to this meeting all parents of children participating in Title I, Part A programs (participating students), and will encourage them to attend. 4. Provide information to parents of participating students in an understandable and uniform format, including alternative formats upon the request of parents with disabilities, and, to the extent practicable, in a language that parents can understand. 5. Provide to parents of participating children information in a timely manner about Title I, Part A programs that includes a description and explanation of the school s curriculum, the forms of academic assessment used to measure children s progress, and the proficiency levels students are expected to meet. 6. On the request of parents, provide opportunities for regular meetings for parents to formulate suggestions, and to participate, as appropriate, in decisions about the education of their children. The school will respond to any such suggestions as soon as practicably possible. 7. Provide to each parent an individual student report about the performance of their child on the State assessment in at least math, language arts and reading. Provide each parent timely notice when their child has been assigned or has been taught for four (4) or more consecutive weeks by a teacher who is not highly qualified within the meaning of the term in section of the Title I Final Regulations (67 Fed. Reg , D

Este convenio escuela-padres estará en efecto durante el año escolar PROVISIONES REQUERIDAS DEL CONVENIO ESCUELA PADRES Responsabilidades de la Escuela: La Escuela Comunitaria Antonia Pantoja: 1. Proveerá un currículo e instrucción de alta calidad en un ambiente de aprendizaje efectivo que permitirá que los niños participantes cumplan con los estándares de aprovechamiento académico del Estado según sigue: Asegurará el acceso a cada estudiante a experiencias de aprendizaje de calidad apropiadas a su desarrollo. Asegurará que el personal escolar comunique expectativas claras sobre la labor de los estudiantes y los padres. Proveerá un ambiente de aprendizaje seguro, positivo y saludable para cada estudiante. 2. Celebrará reuniones de padres y maestros ( por lo menos anualmente en las escuelas elementales) en las cuales se discutirá este convenio en cuanto a su relación con el aprovechamiento individual del niño. Específicamente estas conferencias se llevarán a cabo: En diciembre en marzo 3. Proveerá a los padres informes frecuentes del progreso de los niños. Específicamente la escuela K-8 proveerá informes como sigue:
5 Se darán informes de notas 3 veces al año Se enviarán informes interinos en noviembre, marzo, mayo Los maestros individualmente enviarán a los padres las notas de exámenes y asignaciones adicionales a través del año. Los padres serán invitados a monitorear el progreso de sus niños con visitas a los salones. 4. Se le proveerá a los padres acceso razonable al personal. Específicamente los padres podrán consultar al personal según sigue: Los padres se podrán comunicar con los maestros por teléfono, notas, cartapacio de comunicación o correo electrónico para hablar sobre el niño. Se podrá hacer una cita con los maestros para hablar sobre el niño. Cada miembro del personal tiene un celular y correo electrónico. 5. Se proveerán oportunidades a los padres para ser voluntarios, para participar en las clases de su niño y observar actividades en el salón según sigue: Los padres siempre son bienvenidos a ser voluntarios en el salón o en otras áreas del edificio o a asistir a viajes, siempre y cuando cuenten con los papeles requeridos. Responsabilidades de los Padres Nosotros, como padres, apoyaremos el aprendizaje de nuestros niños de la siguiente manera: Enviando a nuestros niños a la escuela regularmente, a tiempo, bien alimentados y descansados. Creando en el hogar una atmósfera que apoya el aprendizaje alentando a la lectura y a otras actividades académicas. Estableciendo un tiempo para tareas y estando disponibles para ayudar a que nuestros niños cumplan con ellas. Repasando todos los mensajes de la escuela y contestando a tiempo. Alentando a los niños a utilizar libros de referencia, computadoras y la biblioteca. Estableciendo estándares altos de cuidado y limpieza. Elogiando el trabajo del niño. Asegurándonos de que el niño lee por lo menos 30 minutos cada noche. Los padres
6 deberán leer o compartir la lectura con los estudiantes de kindergarten y primer grado. Ayudando a los niños a evitar distracciones tales como la televisión, juegos de video o música muy alta. Asistiendo a las actividades y reuniones de la escuela y participando en decisiones que se relacionan con mi niño. Alentando a nuestros niños para que demuestren respeto por el personal de la escuela, compañeros y propiedad escolar. Uniéndonos a la Asociación Hogar-Escuela y participando activamente. Informando al maestro cuando el niño tiene problemas al hacer sus tareas. Sirviendo hasta donde sea posible en los grupos de asesoría, en Título I, Parte A, como padres representantes en el Grupo de Mejoramiento de la Escuela, Comité Asesor a Nivel de Distrito, Comité de Practicantes del Estado, Grupo de Apoyo a la Escuela o cualquier otro grupo asesor. Responsabilidades del Estudiante Nosotros, como estudiantes, compartiremos la responsabilidad de mejorar el aprovechamiento académico y cumpliremos con los altos estándares del Estado. Específicamente: Asistiremos a tiempo a la escuela cada día y con una actitud positiva. Seremos aprendices cooperadores y seguiremos las instrucciones del maestro. Participaremos en programas académicos tales como Study Island y en lecturas durante mi tiempo libre. Llevaremos a tiempo los mensajes de la escuela a mi casa. Respetaremos al personal escolar, a los estudiantes y la propiedad escolar. Nos interesaremos por aprender todos los días de nuestra vida. La Escuela Comunitaria Antonia Pantoja: 1. Incluirá a los padres en la planificación, repaso y mejoras de la escuela de forma organizada, continua y a tiempo. 2. Incluirá a los padres en el desarrollo de los planes escolares de forma organizada, continua y a tiempo. 3. Celebrará una reunión anual para informar a los padres de la participación de la escuela en Título I, programas de la Parte A, para explicar los requisitos de estos programas y el derecho de los padres de participar en ellos. La escuela hará la reunión en horario conveniente para los padres y ofrecerá otras reuniones adicionales durante mañana y tarde para que puedan asistir la mayor parte posible de padres. La escuela invitará a todos los padres de niños participantes en Título I, programas de la Parte A.

Proveerá información a los padres de los estudiantes participantes de forma clara, incluyendo formatos alternativos según requeridos por los padres de niños con necesidades especiales y hasta donde sea práctico, en un lenguaje que puedan entender. 5. Proveerá información a los padres de niños participantes de Título I, programas de la Parte A, que incluye explicación y descripción del currículo escolar, las formas de evaluación académica utilizadas para medir el progreso de los niños, y los niveles de competencia que se esperan del estudiante. 6. Proveerá oportunidades a los padres para que se reúnan con regularidad, para que puedan presentar sugerencias y participen, según lo apropiado, en decisiones sobre la educación de sus niños. La escuela responderá a cualquier sugerencia tan pronto le sea posible. 7. Proveerá a cada padre un informe individual sobre la labor del estudiante en las pruebas del Estado por lo menos en matemáticas, artes del lenguaje y lectura. 8. Notificará a tiempo a cada padre cuando su niño haya sido asignado o haya sido instruido, por 4 semanas o más consecutivas, por un maestro que no está altamente cualificado según lo estipulado dentro de los términos de la sección de los Reglamentos Finales de Título I (67 Fed. Reg , 2 de diciembre de 2002).
