Hence, as soon as anyone of the faithful begins to be in danger of death from sickness or old age, the fitting time for him to receive this sacrament has certainly already arrived. ST. VINCENT DE PAUL In today s Gospel Jesus took Peter, James and John and went up the mountain to pray. From the cloud came a voice that said, This is my chosen Son; listen to him. It is through our giving and loving the Lord s poor that we may hear the voice of our Lord, Jesus. When we bring our bags of groceries to Church and drop them in the SVdP Food Boxes, we are listening to Jesus. When we drop our alms into the Poor Box, we are listening to Jesus.
