Christ calls us to reach those who are sick or in need, to bless them, serve them, and show them mercy. The thousands of people served by the ministries of the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston need your compassion and generosity. Your kind gift to DSF enables us to reach out to people in this parish and throughout the entire archdiocese through more than 60 important programs. In the past weeks all registered parishioners should have received a letter from Cardinal DiNardo, alon with a personalized pledge card, inviting you to Go Make Disciples. Pray about your DSF 2017 commitment, then complete the enclosed pledge card and return it via mail in the special envelope provided or bring it to Mass next weekend. If you prefer, you may go online at to make your donation. Your generosity will allow our Catholic community to continue many vital programs and services. Our parish goal for this year is $31, Nuestro Fondo de Servicio Diocesano comienza el próximo fin de semana. Nuestra meta parroquial para este año es $ 31, Take the Gospel home with you! Share a conversation with the family on the car ride home or at dinner tonight. Where does faith come from? Is it something you earn or something you figure out from solving complicated formulas? No-- faith is a gift from the Holy Spirit. All we have to do is ask-- pray and ask for the faith and humility to see God acting in our lives. Be persistent when you ask too. In faith we learn to follow and listen to God more closely. St. Paul says in the Second Reading today that our faith should not rest on human wisdom but on the power of God. That should be so encouraging-- that we can trust in God s mighty power! St. Paul focused his whole life on Jesus because he knew He was the most important part of his life. He tells us in his first letter to the Corinthians today that did not use his own powerful words to spread God s Word. He can t take any of the credit. Instead, he owes it all to God. He recognized he was weak and fearful, but God was wise and strong. God wants to use us to do great things! Ask God for the faith and trust to let Him use you to do His work on earth! You are the one God wants to use to feed the hungry and to shelter the homeless, and comfort others who are in pain or brighten up someone s day. Ask God to help you trust in Him! Maybe He wants to use you to answer someone s prayer. De dónde viene la fe? Es algo que tenemos que merecer o tener por resolver alguna fórmula complicada? No-- la fe es un don del Espíritu Santo. Solo tenemos que pedirle-- rezar y pedir la fe y humildad de ver Dios actuando en nuestras vidas. Sea persistente en pedir también. Con fe, aprendemos a seguir y escuchar mejor a Dios. Traiga el Evangelio a casa! Comparta una conversación con la familia por el viaje a casa o durante la cena. San Pablo dice en la Segunda Lectura de hoy que quiere que nuestra fe dependiera del poder de Dios y no de la sabiduría de los hombres. Eso debe de ser muy alentador-- que podemos confiar en el gran poder de Dios! San Pablo enfocó toda su vida en Jesús porque sabía que Él era la parte más importante de su vida. Nos dice hoy en su primera carta a los Corintios que no usaba sus propias palabras poderosas para diseminar la Palabra de Dios. No podía recibir el reconocimiento. En lugar, debe todo a Dios. Reconocía que era débil y miedoso pero Dios era sabio y fuerte. Dios quiere usarnos para hacer hechos grandes también! Pide Dios por la fe y confianza para dejarlo a usarte para hacer Su trabajo en la tierra! Tú eres la persona que Dios quiere usar para dar de comer a los hambrientos y albergar a la gente sin casa, como dice en la Primera Lectura, y consolar a los que sufren y dar alegría al día de alguien. Ruega a Dios a ayudarte a confiar en Él! Tal vez Él quiere usarte para contestar a la oración de alguien.
