1 Summer Work Introduction Letter Hola chicos Before I start, I just want introduce myself and say that I am so excited to have you joining us in Spanish II Honors next year! My name is Señorita Schaeffer, and I teach Spanish II and Spanish II Honors at Calvary. I appreciate your willingness to do this work over the summer so that you are fully prepared for Spanish II Honors. If you have questions as you go, please feel free to me at schaeffer.lauren@cchs.us. I want to make sure that you understand the goal of the work in this packet. This packet will help you review some of the most important and foundational concepts from Spanish I, so that you well-prepared for Spanish II. I have broken this review into five bite-size pieces - I would expect you to spend minutes on each of these five lessons. I encourage you to spread this work out over the summer so that you re not rushing at the last second. Please complete everything included in the packet, and do it with excellence. It is all important. You will take a test on this material during the first week of Spanish II Honors. As long as you score at the C (70%) level or higher on your test, you will be permitted to remain in Spanish II Honors. If you do not score over a 70%, you will be asked to switch to Spanish II Traditional. This score will also be a part of your first quarter Spanish grade. Therefore, I would recommend really investing well in this material and making sure that you have a solid foundation on this content. You will be thankful that you did so as you progress through Spanish II Honors. For each concept, I have included optional extra resources. If you feel like you still don t quite grasp a concept, you can check out these sources. If you would like access to Señor Wooly s site, send me an and I will help you make that happen! Finally, I would like to let you know how I grade. Spelling and accents matter you will have a half point taken off for mistakes in either of those categories. Make sure that you are carefully checking your verb conjugations and sentence order. Review the chart to see how each nationality relates to the country of origin. Remember that since the nationalities are adjectives, they agree in gender and number with the nouns they describe. They are usually used with the verb ser. 13 Present Tense: Guided Notes Remember, all Spanish verbs (in the infinitive form) end in either,, or. You will want to use these verbs in ways other than in the infinitive form. To do this, you will: To create the forms of most ar verbs, you first drop the ar, leaving the stem: Infinitive Hablar Comer stem Then you add the verb endings to the stem: -ar endings -er/ir endings Let s try it with hablar.
